CFP: NAGARA 2025 Fall Online Forum

NAGARA is now accepting session proposals for our spirited 2025 Fall Online Forum, taking place virtually this Halloween (October 31, 2025). This Online Forum will focus on advocacy in archives, and we’re summoning presenters who are ready to conjure up powerful strategies to boost awareness, secure funding, rally champions, and banish barriers in the field of government archives, records, and information management.

Have you led a local presentation or workshop and are ready to share it with a national audience? Tackled a thorny issue and want to share your results? Have a passion for advocacy or archives and want to empower your peers? Then this is your sign from the spirits to submit!

CFP: 2025 NAGARA

NAGARA is built on the collective knowledge and experiences of its members, and we want to hear from you! Whether you have a groundbreaking idea, a new approach, or lessons learned in your work, we invite you to submit a session proposal for the 2025 NAGARA Annual Conference in Oklahoma City. Let’s come together next July to share insights, exchange best practices, and inspire one another.

The Annual Conference Program Committee encourages professionals across all levels of government, backgrounds, and experiences to submit a session proposal. While all topics are welcomed, consider addressing some of the following timely subjects that have sparked interest within our membership (listed in alphabetical order):

  • Advocating for Archives and Records Management Programs
  • Archives Outreach, Exhibits, and Cultural Storytelling
  • Artificial Intelligence (AI) in Archives, Records, and Information Management
  • Developing and Launching RIM Programs (working with a limiting budget and low maturity)
  • Development of Policies, Standards, Workflows, and Tools
  • Diversity and Inclusion in Archives and Records Programs
  • Electronic Records ISO Standards, Preservation, and Access
  • Indigenous and Tribal Archives and Records
  • Leadership and People Management
  • Managing Disparate Information Systems (I.E. SharePoint; Shared Drives; Databases; HRIS)
  • Microsoft 365 (implementation, labels, policies, retention, etc.)
  • Program Administration in Archives and Records
  • Public Records Requests/FOIA

Those selected to present at the conference will receive a 25% discount on their registration fees. The deadline to submit is Friday, January 17, 2025. When submitting a conference session proposal, please consider how it:

  • Informs: Tell the audience about a topic in order to transfer knowledge.
  • Improves: Provide the audience with new knowledge that can be applied.
  • Inspires: Energize the audience with innovative ideas.
  • Involves: Include the audience, the profession, and our users.

 The 2025 Annual Conference Program Committee will assess each proposal based on these factors:

  • Completeness and clarity of the proposal
  • Presenter expertise and relevance to the topic
  • Practical takeaways and actionable tools for attendees
  • Relevance to NAGARA’s membership and mission
  • Promotion of diversity in experience, opinion, and background

The 2025 NAGARA Annual Conference will be an in-person event only. All session participants must register for the conference and attend in person. Presenters will receive a 25% discount on their registration fees. The deadline for proposal submissions is Friday, January 17, 2025.

CFP: 2024 NAGARA Annual Conference

At the 2024 NAGARA Annual Conference we believe your experiences, guidance, and stories are invaluable and worth sharing!

The Call for Session Proposals is ONGOING through January 12, 2024 and NAGARA seeks your insights, successes, and even failures! We invite submissions from presenters across ALL government levels, backgrounds, and life experiences. Come celebrate 40 years of NAGARA with us in Atlanta, Georgia next July!

1. BRAINSTORM Session Ideas Now

Proposals on all topics and subjects are desired and welcomed, but give extra consideration to some of these hot topics, which members have expressed a desire to learn more about:

  • Archives Community Outreach
  • Development of Policies, Standards, Workflows, and Tools
  • Diversity and Inclusion in Archives and Records Programs
  • Developing and Launching RIM Programs (working with a limiting budget and low maturity)
  • Electronic Records Preservation and Access
  • Intellectual Property (IP) and Copyright Concerns
  • Managing SharePoint and/or Shared Drives
  • Microsoft 365 (implementation, labels, policies, retention, etc.)
  • NARA’s Federal Electronic Records Modernization Initiative (FERMI) or the Dept. of Defense Manual 8180.01 Requirements
  • Privacy and Ethics in Archives

2. CONNECT with Other Possible Presenters

We’ve created a special Google Spreadsheet as an informal tool to connect individuals who are seeking ideas and/or collaboration on session proposals. While it is not monitored by NAGARA or the 2024 Program Committee, nor is it part of the official submission process, we encourage you to check it out and begin connecting with other interested presenters. So much good can happen when you link up with others in our community! 

3. REVIEW the Session Submission Questions

Great proposal submissions inform by transferring knowledge, improve by offering actionable insights, inspire with innovative ideas, and involve the audience. Begin preparing your session proposal submission by reviewing the submission form and questions and consider the various range of session formats suggested that might make your presentation more fun and exciting.

Proposals will be evaluated on completeness, speaker expertise, tangible takeaways, relevance to NAGARA’s membership, and diversity of experience and thought. Presenters will also receive a 25% registration discount to help offset costs.
